About Me
Ashley M. France
The meaning behind "Would You Like to Try a Combo?"- When I was 16 I began working at a movie theater. While working the concession stand, we were required to ask each customer if they were interested in purchasing a combo. A combo usually consisted of a drink, food item, and sometimes a candy; different parts come together to make a collective unit. I'd like to think of myself as a "combo" because the experiences and skill sets I have create a collective unit, me.
My name is Ashley France and I am currently a graduate student at the University of the District of Columbia, pursuing an M.S. in Homeland Security. I was a Strategic Communications major at Elon University in Elon, NC. My interest in multimedia didn't come about until just recently. Almost all my life I wanted to be a doctor, more specifically a pediatric neurosurgeon. I loved children and learning about how the body worked. By the time college came around, I quickly learned that being a doctor was not something I wanted to do. After exploring different majors as a second semester freshman, I finally came across the School of Communications. From the first class I took, I knew this was a field I wanted to be in. I have taken many classes in the Strategic Communications major and have found that my passion lies in multimedia, primarily video editing.
I am also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I was initiated in November of 2009 and have served a few roles. I have been community service co-chair, treasurer, and a delegate for National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) meetings at our university. Being in a business-oriented sorority has given me the opportunity to attend conferences, hold positions, and network, among many other things. I plan on, and look forward to remaining an active member for the rest of my life.
I am always excited to learn new things and come across new opportunities. I hope that what ever my future holds, it will take me on a ride that will reach for the stars!
